KVC Hosting

Thursday 23 July 2009 @ 7:29 pm

Finding the perfect company to host your website can be a difficult thing to do but some of the companies are incredibly easy to find and signup for. The company in this review is called KVC Hosting. This company offers five main plans for customers to choose from and one of those plans is free website hosting. That’s right, we didn’t lie, free website hosting. This one plan costs customers zero dollars to host their website with KVC.

There is a catch though with the free website hostingĀ  plan; there is a one-time fee to pay and that’s it. That means there is no monthly hosting charge after the fee is paid. The free plan is separated into three sections; the 6 Main Feature, the 12 Main Feature, and the 16 Main Feature. The 6 Main Feature has a one-time fee of $2.99, the 12 Main Feature has a one-time fee of $9.99, and the 16 Main Feature has a one-time fee of $19.99. Even though you have to pay a one-time fee the price doesn’t come anywhere close to breaking the bank.

The 6 Main Feature comes with 300 MB storage, 2GB data transfer, and 2 email accounts. The 12 Main Feature comes with 600 MB storage, 15 GB data transfer, and 10 email accounts. The 16 Main Features comes with 1500 MB storage, 50 GB data transfer, and 50 email accounts. As you can surmise by the name of each plan, there are 6 features in the first plan, 12 features in the second plan, and 16 features in the third plan. So, if you don’t have much money to spend and don’t need much space then consider KVC Hosting.

Finding an Email Provider

Thursday 23 July 2009 @ 6:29 pm

Signing up for an email address takes a matter of seconds, literally seconds, because all you need to provide is your name, date of birth, a username and a password. Now, you have to enter the username and password twice and make sure that the username is not already in use by someone else but this still only takes a couple of seconds. There are plenty of email providers on the Internet that don’t charge a thing for someone to signup for an account and this includes GMail. GMail is run by Google and does not cost a person one cent to signup for an account.

Another way to grab an email account is through the Internet service provider they are signed up with at their office or at home. For instance, if a person uses Comcast as their Internet Service Provider they offer email accounts for their customers to use. All they need to do is create a username and password. The same can be done with Verizon Internet and Opt Online Internet. You don’t have to signup for your Internet Provider’s email accounts though. Its usually never part of the contract. It is just a service they offer to their customers in case they want to use it.

These days we are seeing the majority of people using free email accounts form GMail, Yahoo, Hotmail and many other free email providers on the Internet. It just seems to be the easiest way to get an account and the quickest way as well.

I’m a Hosting Affiliate; Now What?

Thursday 23 July 2009 @ 6:18 pm

So you finally signed up to be a website hosting company’s affiliate but don’t know what to do next. Well, don’t worrry, we will help you with every step along the way. It is actually one of the easiest ways to make money without having to leave your home and actually do 8 hours of work in an office. Some people make six figures being affiliates of various Internet companies and other people use it to make a little money on the side to help supplement their income. No matter how much money you are looking to make being an affiliate our tips are generic and will work for anyone.

The first thing that needs to be done following the signup process is to find the best affiliate advertisement to place on your website. Browse the available items on the company’s site and find which text link ad, banner ad, skyscraper ad, or picture ad will go best with your wesbite. Make sure you choose something that doesn’t take up much space, that blends with the colors on your website, and that grabs the attention of people visiting your site. Once you have chosen the perfect ad you must get the code.

Copy the code and then paste it into your website’s HTML wherever you would like it to appear on your site. Double check your site to make sure that it appears correctly and doesn’t overlap anything else on the site. Once this is done you can save the changes and then begin to market your website so people will click on the advertisement, which will in turn make you some cash.

Deleting a Domain Name

Monday 20 July 2009 @ 2:05 am

There are millions of domain names across the World Wide Web these days and some of them are so close in name that if you type the wrong letter or number into the URL bar on your Internet browser you will end up on a page you definitely weren’t intending to land on. Many people wonder how companies determine whether or not a domain name is still available when signing up for a website with a hosting company. The answer is quite simple; hosting companies have a database of unavailable domain names that they electronically search when determining whether or not a domain name can be used.

What happens when the registration for a domain name is complete and the website no longer exists? The first step of the deleting of a domain name includes the original or previous owner of the domain name. The owner has anywhere from one to 45 days to determine whether or not they want to renew their purchase of that domain name. If they do then the domain is still not available for anyone else to use. If they do not register the domain name again it will go into a grace period.

The owner can buy the domain name back during the grace period but it will come at a much steeper cost than if it was purchased within the first 45 days of being expired. The grace period typically lasts 30 days. Once the grace period is complete the owner has no way of registering the name again and it will be deleted and made available to the public for purchase within at least five days.

Hosting and Obtaining More Traffic

Monday 20 July 2009 @ 1:47 am

The goal of every person running a website these days is to acquire as much traffic to the site as they possibly can. More traffic means more money and more business for your company. Not every website is designed to make money with the hits to the site but if you run a business website then the more hits you get to your site the more products you will sell via the site or at your business’ physical location. So, generating traffic to your site is an important aspect of running a website.

A website can only support so much traffic because of the server that it is hosted on. If your site starts getting millions of hits in one day and the server that hosts the website can only handle a couple thousand hits or one million hits per day your site will crash and go offline. People visiting the site will experience incredibly slow loading times for different pages on the site to go along with the inability to access certain areas of the site such as the shopping cart.

If you are creating a website make sure that you properly estimate how much traffic your site will garner over a given period of time. Now, to start out your site will probably garner only a little bit of traffic. But once you get your site out on the Internet the traffic will start to pour in. Make sure that you sign up for a hosting plan that will cater to your website and all of the traffic that will be rolling in. Hosting companies will always let you upgrade but wouldn’t you rather have the right plan in the first place?

Blogging and Hosting

Monday 20 July 2009 @ 1:35 am

Blogging is becoming one of the most popular things to do when fooling around on the computer these days and has exploded to enormous levels. One of the questions that many bloggers ask is whether or not they should let a blogging company host their blog or use their blogging software and have a website hosting company host the blog on the side. The answer can either be yes or no and I know that doesn’t answer your question at all but I am sorry.

Now let’s explain the No answer first. If you have no intentions of running a blog that will make you some money on the side then the answer is no, you shouldn’t have your site hosted by an outside hosting company. Also, if you trust the blogging company you are using then you shouldn’t move the site to another host. For instance, Blogger.com and Wordpress.com offer free blogs to people that wish to blog on their own time and will host them for free as well. The only catch is that you cannot put racist or explicit material on your blogs. If you wish to publish that type of content you will need to take your blog elsewhere.

Now let’s explain the Yes answer. If you wish to monetize your blog then you more than likely will need to have an outside company host it because Wordpress will not let you publish ads on their company hosted blogs. You will also need to have your blog hosted elsewhere if you feel that you will publish too much content for the blogging company to handle on a daily basis.

Problems with Hosting Companies

Monday 20 July 2009 @ 1:26 am

Let’s be honest, everyone runs into a problem or two or three when it comes to technology. This can be said of your Internet provider, your email provider, your social media site and sometimes even the company you hired to host your website. Not everyone will experience problems with their hosting company but some people will and it will bother them to no end. This can be controlled and fixed all in one easy step; change hosting companies. A lot of hosting companies around today will not charge a customer one penny for having their domain switched to their company from another company.

One of the most common, and frustrating, problems with a website hosting company is the down time that they cause for your website. This down time can either happen because of technological problems within the hosting company or could happen on purpose because the hosting company is providing maintenance on the servers that your website is hosted on. Don’t fret though, the routine maintenance performed by hosting companies typically doesn’t last too long and they try to perform the maintenance when the site would experience a down time in traffic.

Hosting companies like to brag about how little down time they actually offer their customers on a daily basis but some of these companies can’t follow through on their promises. Make sure you do a little research on the down time a hosting company actually causes a website prior to signing up as one of their customers. It can make all the difference in the world later on down the road.

The Benefits of Hosting

Monday 20 July 2009 @ 1:08 am

Hosting is an important part of the business world today because it helps everyone running a website store their content without much worry or hassle. Companies these days have very intricate websites with a ton of content on them for their customers to access on a daily basis. Having a well run website with not a lot of down time can mean the difference between having a ton of traffic to the site and not having that much traffic to the site at all.

Hosting a website is an important first step for startup companies to complete once they are off and running. In fact, the first thing a company might want to do before they even open their doors is build and launch a website. If they do this before opening their doors they can advertise the grand opening of their business all over their website prior to the company actually launching. Before the website is built the company should hire a company to host the site.

Picking a company to host a website can be extremely difficult to do since there are thousands of hosting companies on the Internet today. Take your time when browsing through all of the inticing options and make an informed decision once all of the research has been completed. Don’t just go with the first company that you come across. This is never the right way to spend your company’s budget. Having a reliable hosting company will take all of the hassle of hosting your site off of your company’s hands and put it solely on them.

10 Things to Consider for Hosting

Friday 10 July 2009 @ 8:55 pm

Companies and individuals alike need to purchase the services of a website hosting company at some point during their existence or during their lifetime. There are thousands of website hosting companies on the world wide web to choose from today and it can be difficult to make the decision as to which one should be used to host a website. This post contains ten things to consider before determining which website hosting company to provide your website with hosting services.

  1. TheĀ  required amount of disk space. Before choosing a website hosting company and a plan one should determine how much space they will actually need to host the content on their website. A website that has hundreds of pages and a ton of content will require a plan with unlimited disk space.
  2. Required amount of data transfer required. If you expect thousands of people to visit your site on a monthly basis then you will need a plan with large data transfer to support the amount of traffic coming in and going out.
  3. Required number of domain names. If you wish to register more than one domain name with one hosting plan then you will need to pick a hosting plan that allows the registration of more than one domain name.
  4. Latest versions of PHP, Perl, JavaScript and CGI. These items make it easy for people to install blogs, forums, and article directories on their websites.
  5. A shopping cart. Almost everyone that has a website sells something at one time or another. A shopping cart will always be handy.
  6. DreamWeaver or FrontPage compatible.
  7. Email accounts that can be personalized.
  8. A shared or a dedicated server. A dedicated server means you share it with absolutely no one.
  9. You must choose between a Linux or a Windows server.
  10. Choose a website hosting company that offers live support 24/7 via email, chat, or telephone.
