Blogging is becoming one of the most popular things to do when fooling around on the computer these days and has exploded to enormous levels. One of the questions that many bloggers ask is whether or not they should let a blogging company host their blog or use their blogging software and have a website hosting company host the blog on the side. The answer can either be yes or no and I know that doesn’t answer your question at all but I am sorry.
Now let’s explain the No answer first. If you have no intentions of running a blog that will make you some money on the side then the answer is no, you shouldn’t have your site hosted by an outside hosting company. Also, if you trust the blogging company you are using then you shouldn’t move the site to another host. For instance, Blogger.com and Wordpress.com offer free blogs to people that wish to blog on their own time and will host them for free as well. The only catch is that you cannot put racist or explicit material on your blogs. If you wish to publish that type of content you will need to take your blog elsewhere.
Now let’s explain the Yes answer. If you wish to monetize your blog then you more than likely will need to have an outside company host it because Wordpress will not let you publish ads on their company hosted blogs. You will also need to have your blog hosted elsewhere if you feel that you will publish too much content for the blogging company to handle on a daily basis.
