Routine Maintenance

Hosting companies will perform routine maintenance on the server that is hosting your website every now and then to make sure that it is running properly and does not cause any crashes of the website in the near future. This routine maintenance will be performed almost once per month as a preemptive strike against any website crashes. This routine maintenance is part of every hosting package offered by the hosting company and it is typically built into the cost of the plan, which means that they do not bill you every time they work on the server attached to your website.

If the hosting company you are working with does not offer routine maintenance to keep your website up and running then you should not sign up with that company, you should not renew with that company, or you should switch to a new company as soon as you can to avoid any technical problems with the website. Routine maintenance is so vitally important to a server that hosts a website because let us be honest here, that server is hosting more than just your website, it is probably hosting hundreds to thousands of websites all at once. So, it will need maintenance every now and then to keep running smoothly without any problems.

Routine maintenance, when scheduled by the company, will be announced by the hosting company via an alert email. The alert email will tell the operator of the website what time the maintenance will occur, how long it might take, and what problems or concerns they will be addressing.
